Additional cast members for Kyoto Animation's latest TV anime, "20th Century Electric Catalog - Eureka Evrika," have been announced, revealing that Kouki Uchiyama, Daisuke Ono, Shunsuke Takeuchi, and Minako Kotobuki will appear.
Uchiyama, who plays Mitsuzoe Yosuke, the heir to Mitsuzoe Shoten, a company that made its fortune with steam engines, and who is obsessed with the 20th Century Electric Catalog, commented, "He is a character who shows many different expressions. I was conscious of the intensity and range of his emotions, and expressed his lines using various approaches. He has a complex drama, and I hope you will pay attention to how this intertwines with the main story of this work. I think I was able to do my best because I was able to communicate carefully with director Ota Minoru and the staff every time during recording. Please look forward to the broadcast and streaming of '20th Century Electric Catalog - Eureka Evrika'!"
Ono, who plays Kihachi's older brother, Sakamoto Seiroku, a charismatic figure who captivated those around him with his passion for inventing electricity and who never returned from the war, said, "Kyoto Animation has given me so many memories so far. Their passion, strong convictions, and kind feelings. I would like to pass on these precious thoughts to the future. '20th Century Electric Catalog - Eureka Evrika' is a story about us all creating the next era together. Let's go into it together."
Takeuchi Shunsuke, who plays Riku Kengo, a sturdy, strong, and powerful ex-soldier with the power of a steam locomotive, and the fiance of Inako's older sister Noriko, said, "I'm sure there are many people wondering what this series is about, but what I can say is that it's a fun anime all the way to the end!! It's a safe anime! It's rare to find a work that says so much, just please watch it. In pursuit of the future possibilities of 'electricity,' various human relationships come into play. Kengo is a muscular character as you can see, but there's also a solid story! Please look forward to the broadcast!"
Kotobuki, who plays Ineko's skillful, reliable older sister, who is skilled in martial arts, and Kengo's fiancee, Momokawa Noriko, commented, "Noriko is pronounced as 'Noriko', with the 'Ki' (rule) and the 'ko' (child). As Ineko's older sister, Noriko, as an older sister and sometimes as a mother figure, wishes for Ineko's happiness and protects her with a dignified spirit. Personally, I am happy to be able to play Amamiya Sora's older sister. And this production, with its strong power from the director and the creative team, has been more than just stimulating, it has shocked me. For me, too, 'this encounter is electric.' I hope that everyone who will watch it will be surprised by many things."
The original work is the light novel "20th Century Electric Catalog" by Hiroshi Yuki, published by KA Esuma Bunko. Set in Kyoto in the early 20th century, when only steam engines were developed, this tale of adventure begins with the encounter of a boy in despair after losing his older brother, with whom he shared the dream of the "age of electricity," and a devout girl who lives with longing and regret for her late mother. As the characters uncover the secrets of the "20th Century Electric Catalog," they must face their past regrets and rediscover their dreams and selves.
The series will be directed by Minoru Ohta, who was also the instrument animation director for "Sound! Euphonium 3." Yuuma Uchida will play the protagonist Kihachi Sakamoto, and Sora Amamiya will play the heroine Ineko Momokawa. The series will begin airing in July.
