The event for the popular anime series "Mashhin Hero Wataru," "Mashhin Hero Wataru Super! Thanksgiving," was held at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) on February 1st. Appearances included Mayumi Tanaka, who plays Wataru Senbei, Kazue Ikura, who plays Torao and Ryuko Sho, Kouichi Yamadera, who plays Kurama Watanabe, Urara Takano, who plays Kaiko Umi, and theme song singers a・chi-a・chi, Yumiko Takahashi, and Hitomi Mieno.
During the matinee session, a tribute was given to Tomomichi Nishimura, who played Shibaraku Tsurugibe and passed away on November 29th of last year, and then "a・chi-a・chi" performed "a・chi-a・chi Adventure," the ending theme of "Mashhin Hero Wataru." The voice actors joined in and sang along.
The voice actors also performed character songs such as Watanabe Kurama's "Wings of the Wild," Umikako's "Gentle Sea," Torao's "Beyond a Thousand Nights," and Senbe Wataru's "Sword of Dreams." During the talk corner, they shared memories of Nishimura, who passed away last year, and when the topic turned to character songs, both Yamadera and Takano revealed that they had only sung them two or three times in the past 30 years.
Furthermore, Takahashi Yumiko sang "Step by Step," the opening theme for the first half of "Mashhin Hero Wataru 2," and "Kimi ni Tomaranai ~MY GIRL, MY LOVE~," the ending theme for the first half of "Mashhin Hero Wataru," while Mieno Hitomi sang "Hitotsu no Heart de," the opening theme for the first half of "Chou Mashin Hero Wataru," and "BOYS BE AMBITIOUS," the ending theme for the first half of "Chou Mashin Hero Wataru." Takahashi said that singing makes her nervous, but her singing voice was just as good as it was back then, thrilling the fans.
A reading of "Farewell Greetings" from "Mashhin Hero Wataru 2," written by Yui Enatsu for the event, was also performed. Peace returns to Seikaizan, and as Wataru and Torao are about to return to their original world, Umihika appears before them, complaining, "There's no farewell greeting," and "You guys are treating me roughly." Kurama also joins them...
At the end, everyone sang "Step," the opening theme song for "Mashhin Hero Wataru," and Tanaka called out, "Please continue to support 'Wataru' in the future!"
