"Super Sentai Song Festival - Looking Back at 50 Years Through Music" (NHK-FM), a radio program that focuses on enjoying the music of Toei's special effects productions, the "Super Sentai Series," will be broadcast from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on February 28th.
The Super Sentai series reached a turning point on television with the final episode of "Number One Sentai Gojuger" (TV Asahi) aired on February 8th. The program will look back on various Super Sentai songs over the years.
Guests include Dai Nagai, who appeared in "Mirai Sentai Timeranger," Shoko Nakagawa, who appeared in "Chikyu Sentai Fiveman" and "Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger," and Super Sentai song artist Hideaki Takatori. The MC will be Sakura Miyajima, a freelance announcer who has hosted numerous special effects production press conferences.
Nagai commented, "It's moving to think that it's already been 26 years since Timeranger was first broadcast in 2000. The story is of course important, but the theme song is also very important in adding color to the work. Incidentally, the theme song for Timeranger has lyrics that are mostly in English, which is rare for a Sentai series. It's a wonderful song, so please give it a listen."
Nakagawa said, "Super Sentai songs are life! The more I listen to them, the more I feel the taste of love and courage! I would like to share and talk with everyone about the wonderful culture of the best Sentai music, which has encouraged me countless times from childhood to adulthood!"
