A special video has been released featuring interviews with the actors of the Prime Original film "Angel Flight THE MOVIE" (directed by Horikirizono Kentaro, available worldwide exclusively on Prime Video from February 13th), starring actress Yonekura Ryoko, in which they talk about the highlights and behind-the-scenes footage of the filming, as well as never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage.
The film is based on the novel "Angel Flight: International Funeral Repatriation Specialist" by Ryoko Sasa, winner of the 10th Kaiko Takeshi Non-Fiction Award. It depicts the inspiring work of international funeral repatriation specialists, who transport the bodies of Japanese people who died overseas back to Japan and foreigners who died in Japan back to their home countries. Yonekura plays Izawa Nami, the powerful president of Angel Hearth, a small company with an office in Haneda Airport.
The film is positioned as a sequel to the moving human drama "Angel Flight: International Funeral Home Specialist," which was released on Prime Video in March 2023 and aired on NHK General TV from May last year. The story progresses while touching on Nami's past, which was not revealed in the drama series, and information about the missing Adachi Yukito (Mukai Osamu) gradually comes to light. Furthermore, as Nami's subordinates each travel to various places and confront the body, their efforts come together at the end, leading to a moving conclusion.
In the special interview video released, the seven actors who played the members of Angel Hearth (Yonekura, Kenichi Endo, Honoka Matsumoto, Yu Shirota, Yu Yamoto, Kayo Noro, and Yu Tokui) each talk about the film. Yonekura shared her thoughts after reading the script, saying, "Nami's part also involves a story about her lover Yukito, who may have passed away, so I wondered how the balance between the love story and the work of an international funeral home specialist would be achieved, but it was perfectly balanced, and I found myself crying every time I opened the script."
Regarding the full-scale filming in Mexico, Yonekura recalled, "The whole town worked together to create a Day of the Dead situation, and everyone worked hard on the makeup, etc." Regarding her co-starring with Mukai, she said, "In the drama series, we had almost no contact, and this time I had the most interaction with him, so outside of filming we talked about the kind of conversations I had with him in the past, what I feel about him, and what he thinks of me."
Regarding the highlights of this work, she sent a message saying, "In the final episode of the previous drama series, there was information that Yukito, who was important to Nami, might still be breathing somewhere, but time has passed since then, and I would be happy if you would pay attention to how the story unfolds this time. I believe that this is a work that will make you feel many different things."
