It has been announced that the 44th animated feature film of the popular Doraemon series, originally created by Fujiko F. Fujio, "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita's Picture World Story" (directed by Teramoto Yukiyo), will be broadcast on TV Asahi from 6:30 PM on February 21st. The film will be released in March 2025 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Doraemon the Movie series, and this will be the first time it will be broadcast on terrestrial television. The broadcast will commemorate the release of the latest film, "Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the New Castle of Devil's Undersea Rock" (directed by Yajima Tetsuo), on February 27th.
"Nobita's Picture World Story" is set in a "world within a painting." Doraemon and his friends dive into the world of the painting, where they meet a mysterious girl named Claire and others, and embark on a great adventure that transcends time and space in search of a mystical jewel. Guest voice actors include Suzuka Hiroshi, Fujimoto Miki, and the comedy duo Sandwichman. The theme song "Sketch," written by Aimyon, and the insert song "While Listening to Your Dreams, I Come Up with Funny Ideas!" also attracted attention.
When "Nobita's Picture World Story" is broadcast, a quiz and giveaway project linked to the data broadcasting will be held: "A Challenge from the QuizKnock Azuma Brothers! Quiz for the Undersea Devil's Castle." The quiz questions were devised by the brothers Azuma Tomon and Azuma Gen of QuizKnock, who are the promotional ambassadors for "New Nobita and the Undersea Devil's Castle." Points are awarded for correct answers, and those who get a high score will have the chance to win prizes such as a "Kawasaki City Fujiko F. Fujio Museum Original Art Reproduction of the Doraemon Feature Film "Nobita and the Undersea Devil's Castle." On the day of the broadcast, four of the five questions will be released in advance. The remaining question will be asked on air.
To celebrate the release of the latest film, TVer and Abema will be streaming a movie-related episode for free from the end of their regular broadcast on February 14th until March 1st.
"Doraemon Masterpiece Selection to celebrate the release of 'Doraemon the Movie: Nobita and the New Castle of Devil's Undersea Rock'" will also be broadcast. Episodes related to the sea and adventure will be broadcast for three consecutive weeks starting from February 21st. "Deep Sea Cycling" and "Let's Make an Ozasiki Aquarium" will be broadcast from 5:20am on February 21st, "Deep Sea Submarine for Only 200 Yen!!" and "Exciting Floating Ring" will be broadcast from 5:20am on February 28th, and "I Caught a Umibozu!" and "A Journey at Sea on a Dolphin" will be broadcast from 5:20am on March 7th. All episodes will be broadcast on TV Asahi (Kanto local).
