The TV anime series "Darwin Incident," based on the manga by Shun Umezawa, which was recently selected as the Grand Prize winner at the 2022 Manga Awards, has released a new visual in response to the fact that the series will enter the "Red Pill Shooting Incident Arc" from episode 6, which will air on February 10th. The visual depicts Gale, wearing a mask and holding a gun, committing a brutal act, Lucy trembling in fear at the tragedy before her eyes, and Rivera smiling in the face of the tragedy, accompanied by the copy, "A 15-year-old boy's sense of justice will shake the world."
In the "Red Pill Shooting" episode, Gale, a young man who strongly sympathizes with the ideals of ALA and holds up a placard calling for animal rights in the courtyard of his high school, finally commits a violent crime.
"Darwin Incident" has been serialized in "Afternoon" (Kodansha) since 2020. Charlie, a "humanzee" born between a human and a chimpanzee, faces human problems such as terrorism, online outrage, and discrimination. The series has sold over 2.2 million copies in total.
The anime is directed by Tsuda Naokatsu and produced by Belnox Films. Tanezaki Atsumi plays Charlie, a "humanzee" born from a human and a chimpanzee, Kobe Mitsuho plays Lucy Eldred, who Charlie meets when he enrolls at the school, and Otsuka Akio plays Rivera Feyerabend. It is currently airing on TV Tokyo.
