It has been announced that the first part of the theatrical anime series "Made in Abyss," based on the manga by Akihito Tsukushi, "Made in Abyss: Awakening Mystery," will be released in the fall of 2026. It will be a sequel to the first TV anime season, the theatrical version "Dawn of the Deep Soul," and the second TV anime season, "The Golden Land of the Fiery Sun," and will be directed by Masayuki Kojima and produced by Kinema Citrus.
"Made in Abyss" depicts the adventures of a young girl named Riko and a young robot named Reg, set in the unexplored Abyss, a huge hole where precious relics lie dormant. The first season of the TV anime aired from July to September 2017, and the second season, "The Golden Land of the Fiery Sun," will air from July to September 2022. The movie version, "Dawn of the Deep Soul," was released in January 2020. The original series has sold a total of over 22 million copies.
