The 30th episode of the TV anime "MF Ghost," based on the successor to Shuichi Shigeno's popular manga "Initial D," titled "Miracle at 13:09," will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other channels starting February 8th.
When Kanata returns from Niigata, he finds the sudden death of his father, Ken, whom he had been searching for. His aunt Kaede, who knows the situation, says that Ken, who had terminal cancer, knew of Kanata's existence but stubbornly refused to contact him, saying he was not qualified to be his father. However, he was cheering on Kanata from his hospital bed during the race, and he passed away at 1:09 pm on the day of the third race. It was when the pain in his elbow disappeared that Kanata broke down, and he wept bitterly, believing that his father had saved him. He reports this to his mother in heaven, saying it was proof that he had connected with his father.
"MF Ghost" was serialized in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha) from September 2017 to February 2025. Set in Japan in the year 202X, where self-driving cars have become widespread, the story follows Kanata Katagiri, a British racing school graduate, who takes part in a race to achieve a certain goal while the MFG car race on public roads is gaining popularity around the world.
Kanata is a student of Takumi Fujiwara, the protagonist of "Initial D," and races in a red 86. The appearance of characters from "Initial D," such as Keisuke Takahashi and Hiroya Okuyama, also attracted attention. The series was also adapted into a TV anime, with the first season airing from October to December 2023 and the second season from October to December 2024. The total number of copies of the comics published is over 7 million. The third season is currently airing.
