The final episode (episode 8) of NHK's period drama "Akinai Seiden: Gold and Silver 2," starring actress Fuka Koshiba, will be broadcast on February 8th in the "Special Selection! Period Drama" slot (General, Sunday 6:10 AM).
Gosuzuya's Suzukomon fabrics became popular, but the measles epidemic caused a dry up of customers. However, Gosuzuya responded to customers who wanted to sell pieces of Suzukomon fabric to use as headbands to ward off illness, and after the epidemic, business boomed.
One day, Sachi (Koshiba) is invited to an Ebisu-ko ritual, and accompanies Yui (Nagasawa Itsuki) when they encounter Masugoya (Takashima Masanobu), a money changer. Afterwards, Yui is proposed to... At that time, Gosuzuya receives a notice to pay a large amount of tribute. Sachi visits the money changer for advice, where she is reunited with Soji (Kato Shigeaki), who had been missing.
"Akinai Seiden: Gold and Silver" is set in the mid-Edo period and depicts the hard work and ingenuity of ordinary people as they make their businesses successful, while incorporating a variety of customs. Season 1, which aired in 2023, follows the protagonist Sachi as she marries Tomozo, the sixth-generation owner of Gosuzuya, and how they begin selling "Hamahabutae" silk from New Year's as a desperate attempt to revive the struggling Gosuzuya.
In Season 2, while increasing Gosuzuya's wealth, she experiences the death of her beloved... She becomes the seventh female owner in Osaka, where women's names are prohibited, opens a store in Edo, and builds the foundation of Gosuzuya's Edo store with her eccentric ideas and the bonds she forms with her colleagues.
