A new original anime series, "Grow Up Show ~Sunflower Circus~," a collaboration between Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, and Psyde Kick Studio, will begin airing on TOKYO MX and BSS11 every Saturday at midnight starting July 4th. It will also be broadcast on Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, TV Aichi, MBS, and AT-X. The main visual, featuring the members of the Sunflower Circus drawn by character designer and chief animation director Kazutoshi Makino, has also been released.
It was also announced that the music unit "NOMELON NOLEMON" will be in charge of the opening theme "Yurari Yureru" and the rock band "Aooo" will be in charge of the ending theme "DAYS!", and two commercials featuring each song have been released on YouTube.
"Grow Up Show" is set in Japan during the height of its economic boom in the 1950s. Numerous circus troupes are touring Japan, performing in a race to qualify for the Circus Collection, a world-renowned festival where only the best circus troupes are allowed to participate. The story follows Mizuka Tsurumaki, a circus prodigy, who comes to the Himawari Circus, led by ringmaster Maria, for certain reasons.
Kanta Kamei, known for the anime "Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend," will direct the series, with Kurehito Misaki, who created the original illustrations for the same work, handling the character designs, and Takeshi Kikuchi, known for works such as "Skeleton Knight in Another World," in charge of series composition and scriptwriting.
