The NHK Taiga drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)", starring actor Taiga Nakano (NHK General, Sundays at 8 PM, etc.), featured a 20th episode, "The Real Hiragumo," aired on May 24th, which drew attention to Tortoise Matsumoto, who plays the role of Murashige Araki.
In episode 20, Nobunaga (Shun Oguri ) is furious with Hideyoshi (Sosuke Ikematsu) for abandoning the campaign against the Uesugi clan and returning home without permission. He orders Hideyoshi to be placed under house arrest and sentenced to death.
While the entire Hashiba family is working tirelessly to plead for clemency, news arrives that Matsunaga Hisahide (Naoto Takenaka) has betrayed them again. Having narrowly escaped death, Hideyoshi and Koichiro (Nakano) go to negotiate with Hisahide and convey Nobunaga's intention that if he hands over the unique tea utensil, Hiragumo, the rebellion will be overlooked.
However, despite the exceptionally generous terms, Hisahide inexplicably refused to accept them... and that's how the story unfolded.
Araki Murashige is a "coward" who rebelled against Oda Nobunaga and survived while hundreds of his family and retainers were executed. Tortoise, who plays this role, is still best known for his portrayal of Teruo, the "worst heroine's father in Asadora history," in the 2020 second half-year Asadora drama "Ochoyan."
In the 20th episode of " BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)", Murashige joins the Oda army led by Nobutada (Yuta Koseki) and surrounds Shigisan Castle where Hisahide is holed up, but his attitude reeks of deceit. Many viewers compare him to Teruo, who was a complete scumbag, and comments on social media included "Araki Murashige seems like a scam," "This Araki Murashige has the vibe of Teruo, the legendary shady old man from the Asadora, is that okay?", and "I just can't help calling Tortoise Matsumoto 'Teruo'." There were also comments expressing anticipation, such as "I hope he's a scumbag on par with Teruo from 'Ochoyan'" and "I'm really looking forward to seeing how scumbag Tortoise Matsumoto's Araki Murashige will be, just like Teruo."
The scriptwriter for "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)" is Hiroyuki Yatsu, the same writer as for "Ochoyan." In addition, in episode 21, airing on May 31st, Yuki Kura, who played Yoshio, Teruo's son in "Ochoyan," will appear as Kuroda Kanbei.
