It has been revealed that Shunsaku Aoshima, the protagonist played by actor Yuji Oda, has been assigned to the First Investigation Division, a position he has long desired, in the upcoming film "Bayside Shakedown NEW" (directed by Katsuyuki Motohiro, opening September 18th). Furthermore, the film's subtitle has been decided as "Run Through Metropolis!".
The "Bayside Shakedown" series, since its television drama debut in 1997, has set itself apart from previous police dramas by depicting the hierarchical structure, power dynamics, and human relationships within the police force, creating a social phenomenon. The following year, in 1998, the film "Bayside Shakedown THE MOVIE" was released and became a massive hit, grossing over 10 billion yen. The second film in the series, "Bayside Shakedown THE MOVIE 2: Blockade the Rainbow Bridge!", released in 2003, grossed 17.35 billion yen and reigned as the top-grossing live-action Japanese film for approximately 22 years until it was surpassed by the film "National Treasure" last November.
New footage has also been released. Aoshima rushes to the crime scene, announces, "I'm Aoshima from the First Investigation Division," and tries to look inside the room, but is stopped by the forensic team who say they have already searched it and glares at him, saying, "Do you have a problem with our work?"
The video features Aoshima relentlessly pursuing the case, accompanied by meaningful numbers such as "225 cases," "7cm," "30 seconds," "Seven Bears," "Countless Aoshima-kuns," "8-car train," "A miraculous shot," and "8.2km/h." It also includes Aoshima's voice saying, "So that's why you sent me back to the First Investigation Division from SSBC," suggesting that this isn't his first assignment to the First Investigation Division.
