The film adaptation of "All-Area Abnormality Resolution Room (Zenketsu)," which was announced last August and stars Tatsuya Fujiwara and co-stars Alice Hirose, has been relaunched as a two-part big project. The release date has also been moved from autumn 2026 to spring 2027, with both films being released consecutively.
"All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office" is a full-fledged mystery drama written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa and directed by Junichi Ishikawa, set in the world's oldest investigative agency, "All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (Zenketsu)," which solves "unexplained and bizarre cases" that defy common sense. It aired on Fuji TV in October 2024. The main characters are Miyabi Okitama, a specialist in paranormal phenomena played by Fujiwara, and Koyume Amano, a police officer who is a former member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's color guard, played by Hirose, as they pursue a series of "bizarre cases" and a mysterious entity called "Hiruko" that connects them.
Initially, the story was a supernatural mystery about solving "unexplained and bizarre incidents" that defied common sense. However, midway through, it became clear that it was a "story of Japanese gods," and this unique form of entertainment, which uses Japanese mythology as its motif and depicts a battle between gods who have protected humanity for generations and gods from a new world, became a hot topic on social media.
The film reunites the staff from the drama series, including screenwriter Tsutomu Kuroiwa, director Junichi Ishikawa, and producer Songha Narikawa. The first film is set two years after the drama's final episode, when the world is still unstable after the loss of important gods, and mysterious hostage situations occur in various locations. Xingyu and Xiaomen, who had gone their separate ways, find their destinies intertwined once again due to a new incident. Faced with numerous difficulties, the bond between the two will be put to the test.
In the second installment, a terrorist act by a mysterious organization occurs. A major incident unfolds in Kyoto, the ancient capital where gods reside, and the harmony between the human world and the world of the gods begins to crumble... A supernatural phenomenon of unprecedented scale erupts, involving not only Zenketsu members such as Okutama and Koyume, but also the Kyoto members. Furthermore, the supreme goddess Amaterasu Omikami is said to make an appearance.
