It has been revealed that Nintendo's game consoles, including the "Nintendo Switch 2," will be subject to a price increase starting May 25th. The Switch 2 (Japanese version, Japan only), currently priced at 49,980 yen, will increase by 10,000 yen to 59,980 yen.
Nintendo explained the reason for the price increase as "a result of considering the future global business prospects in light of various changes in the market environment." The previous generation console, the "Nintendo Switch (OLED model)," will increase in price from 37,980 yen to 47,980 yen, the Nintendo Switch from 32,978 yen to 43,980 yen, and the Nintendo Switch Lite from 21,978 yen to 29,980 yen.
The price of the "Nintendo Switch 2 Multilingual" sold on the My Nintendo Store will remain unchanged at 69,980 yen.
In North America and Europe, prices will also increase by $50 and €30 respectively, starting September 1st.
Furthermore, the online service "Nintendo Switch Online" will also see a price increase starting July 1st. The monthly fee will rise from 306 yen (individual plan) to 400 yen, and the 12-month plan will increase from 2400 yen to 3000 yen. The "Nintendo Switch Online + Add-on Pack," which allows users to play N64, GBA, and Mega Drive titles, will also increase in price from 4900 yen to 5900 yen.
