The program "Jūnin Toiro ~Ie ni Aru Aru Kazoku Katachi~" (MBS, Saturdays at 5pm, Kansai local broadcast and others), hosted by talent Mifune Mika and actor Taro Suruga, will feature a "60-year-old apartment building with a spectacular view" in Ashiya City, Hyogo Prefecture, in its Getsuku broadcast.
The residents are a couple who lived abroad for about 20 years. Last year, after retiring, they moved to Ashiya together. Their home, which they call their "final home," is a 60-year-old apartment building with a view of the sea from the window. They renovated a 1LDK apartment of about 64 square meters located on the top floor of the 7-story building.
The top priority, they said, was the view to the south. From the living room at the end of the hallway, you can see the city of Kansai and the sea, and even Kansai International Airport. The bedroom is located immediately inside the entrance, and in the limited space of the kitchen, they decided on an oven that doubles as a microwave and toaster first, and then built storage to fit it. The living room opposite is not divided by a wall, but loosely divided into three sections.
In front of the south-facing window, they've created a resting space called a "siesta bed." This prime spot with a spectacular view is large enough to lie down comfortably, and the husband says he often spends hours here quietly playing the guitar while gazing at the scenery. With a satisfied expression, he says, "As we get older, it's not about the number of things we own, but how we can improve the quality of our experiences. In that sense, even though it's a small space, being able to live in such a high-quality environment enriches my soul."
"Jūnin Toiro" is a program that visits homes across Japan and introduces the unique features and charms of the homes of their inhabitants. After the broadcast, it is available for streaming on TVer for one week.
