A new key visual has been released for the event "Original 'The Prince of Tennis' Series Completion Commemoration! Tenipuri Surprise☆Summit," which celebrates the conclusion of Takeshi Konomi's popular tennis manga series "The Prince of Tennis." Konomi himself drew the characters, including Ryoma Echizen, for the visual.
The event will be held on July 19th at Tokyo International Forum Hall A (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). In addition to Takeshi Konomi, the cast Ryotaro Okiayu(Kunimitsu Tezuka), Takayuki Kondo (Shuichiro Oishi), Yuki Kaida (Shusuke Fuji), Junichi Suwabe(Keigo Atobe), and Hidenobu Kiuchi(Yushi Oshitari). Narumi Kawamoto (Takashi Kawamura) and Masaya Onosaka (Takeshi Momoshiro) will serve as MCs. Official advance tickets are now on sale.
"The Prince of Tennis" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1999 to 2008. It depicted the rise of Ryoma Echizen, a tennis prodigy, in the Seishun Academy tennis club, and his growth through battles against rival schools. A new series, "The New Prince of Tennis," has been serialized in "Jump SQ." (Shueisha) since 2009.
The TV anime series also gained popularity, with "The Prince of Tennis" airing from October 2001 to March 2005, and "The New Prince of Tennis" airing in 2012. The new full 3DCG animated film "Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis: The New Theatrical Version" (directed by Hiroshi Koujina) was released in September 2021, generating considerable buzz. Following "The New Prince of Tennis," "The New Prince of Tennis U-17 WORLD CUP" aired from July to September 2022, marking the first TV series in approximately 10 years, and its sequel, "The New Prince of Tennis U-17 WORLD CUP SEMIFINAL," aired from October to December 2024. A sequel to "SEMIFINAL," "The New Prince of Tennis U-17 WORLD CUP Final Member Deciding Match," will air in the fall of 2026.
