The third episode of the Fuji TV Monday Getsuku drama "Canned Mackerel Goes to Space," starring actor Takumi Kitamura , aired on April 27th. Kodai Kurosaki, had an emotional outburst. His performance, which created momentum for the realization of canned mackerel as space food, thrilled fans.
◇The following contains spoilers.
Asano (Kitamura) informed the students that she had been given the opportunity to present her design for canned mackerel as "suitable as space food" by a representative from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) Space Education Center. If the presentation was successful, there was a possibility that they would be introduced to the JAXA department that develops space food, which excited Nami (Natsuki Deguchi) and the others.
However, Ryuku Kimura (played by Eiku Yamashita) said, "That's just stupid. To be honest, how long are you going to keep doing something you can't even do?" and argued that they should think more about their lives after graduation.
"I can't imagine spending the rest of my life in this town."
Ryuku declared, seemingly to spite Nami, Terao, and other classmates who were eager to buy canned mackerel, that he had no intention of taking over his father's business of making lacquered chopsticks.
Terao reacted strongly to this.
"What's wrong with taking over the business? Is staying in this town a sign of failure? Am I going to be uncool for the rest of my life if I do the same job as my dad?"
Terao, who has decided to follow in his father's footsteps and become a fisherman after graduation, yelled, "Aren't our dads working so hard to protect this town? Are you going to dismiss it all with just one word: lame?!" and punched Ryuku, knocking him to the ground. For Ryuku, this incident became a turning point that made him re-evaluate canned mackerel and his own future.
Kurosaki, who has also been making headlines for his stunning performance in the Netflix series "Kujo no Taizai," has been the subject of much discussion on social media. Comments include: "Kodai Kurosaki, who played a completely different role in 'Kujo no Taizai,' is amazing," "Kodai Kurosaki is really good. He's going to be a great actor," "I was surprised by the amazing voice of Kodai Kurosaki, who played Terao," "Kodai Kurosaki Kouyo has a great voice, doesn't he?", and "Kodai Kurosaki is just too good. He's captivating. I'm glad he's in this Getsuku drama."
The drama is an original coming-of-age story based on the true story of students at a fisheries high school in Fukui Prefecture who challenged themselves to achieve their big dream of "developing space food."
