The program "Platinum Family: A Glimpse into the Lives of a Glamorous Family" (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 7 PM *excluding some regions) introduces the lifestyles of "glamorous families." In the April 28th broadcast, a descendant of Iwakura Tomomi, a key figure in the Meiji Restoration, will be featured.
Masakazu Iwakura, a descendant of Tomomi Iwakura, works at one of Japan's leading law firms located in Roppongi Hills (Minato Ward, Tokyo). The program will introduce Masakazu's office environment and places associated with Tomomi Iwakura.
Masakazu, a top-level lawyer working at one of Japan's leading law firms, has been involved in large-scale corporate acquisitions of globally renowned companies, some worth as much as 2 trillion yen. His office occupies four floors of Roppongi Hills, covering approximately 19,000 square meters. It boasts an impressive space that includes a spacious morning meeting area with panoramic views of Tokyo, and sometimes even Mount Fuji, as well as a piano hall that hosts performances by famous musicians.
There is also a mock courtroom where they practice trials, and when Masakazu demonstrates a mock trial, MC Chisako Takashima can't help but exclaim, "That's cool!" Furthermore, the office is equipped with a large library containing all the necessary documents for trials, and when Masakazu reveals that he likes Yukio Mishima because "he is logical and helps organize your thoughts," Takashima is surprised and says, "He is on a different level as a person."
The film also reveals the "Jissoin" hideout, where Ryoma Sakamoto and other patriots of the late Edo period sought Tomomi's advice, and the "Rokueido" in Hyogo, where he held meetings with Hirobumi Ito, Toshimichi Okubo, and Takamori Saigo. It also shares anecdotes about Tomomi's first taste of a certain food in Japan when he became the first Foreign Minister and inspected Europe and America as part of the Iwakura Mission, and reveals that some famous entertainers are relatives of Tomomi. The film also reveals the thoughts of Masakazu, whose ancestor was Tomomi Iwakura, who was close to Emperor Meiji and was the first person to receive a state funeral.
