The first episode of the TBS Friday drama "Takusari Brothers" (Fridays at 10 PM), starring actor Masaki Okada and also featuring Shota Sometani, aired on April 17th. The "Takusari Brothers," consisting of older brother Makoto Takusari (Okada), a detective, and younger brother Minoru Takusari (Sometani), a medical examiner, were well-received by viewers.

The drama follows Makoto and Minoru as they investigate a series of heinous crimes that occur daily, and pursue the true culprit behind the murder of their parents, a case that expired just two days before the statute of limitations was abolished. This is the latest work from producer Junko Arai, who has worked on hit crime suspense works such as the film "Last Mile" and the dramas "Unnatural," "MIU404," and "Saiai."
April 27, 2010. With the enforcement of the revised Code of Criminal Procedure, the statute of limitations for heinous crimes such as murder was abolished. The statute of limitations for the "Tagusari Family Murder and Assault Case," in which the parents were murdered and Minoru was attacked in 1995, expired just two days before the abolition of the statute of limitations. The perpetrator who killed the parents will no longer be prosecuted.
Currently, coroner Minoru hands Detective Makoto a list of unidentified persons from the prefectural police database. After reviewing the list, Makoto sighs and mutters, "Why didn't they just abolish the statute of limitations for all the cases? I can't accept this."
Minoru said regretfully, "He wasn't here again today." The scene then switched to a shot of non-fiction writer Yuji Tsuda (played by Kazuki Iio), who had visited them shortly before their parents were murdered, and Makoto said, "I wonder where he is."
"He might be laughing somewhere. I can't sleep well if I think about that. Why did he have to be killed..." Makoto said, unable to hide his anger. Minoru also confessed his feelings, saying, "It's been 31 years already. I'm still bound to that day."
Social media was buzzing with comments like, "Masaki Okada and Shota Sometani are just the best," "I really love the chemistry between Okada and Sometani," "Okada and Sometani are perfect together. I can't wait to see what happens next," "Why did they have to die? Why did they have to be killed?
