It was revealed on April 20th that " Bakebake ," the NHK Asadora drama series starring actress Akari Takaishi , has won the Galaxy Award for March 2026, an award that recognizes programs, individuals, and organizations that have contributed to the improvement of broadcasting culture.
" Bakebake" is the 113th Asadora . Based on the lives of Lafcadio Hearn Yakumo Koizumi and his wife Setsu, it is a story of a married couple, where the heroine, who loves ghost stories, lives her ordinary daily life with her foreign husband.
The Galaxy Awards were established in 1963 by the Broadcast Critics Association with the aim of improving the quality of Japanese broadcasting culture. The association commented, "The final episode was outstanding, as it became clear that the entire story was about the 'wonderful, trivial days' that Toki spoke of. The ending, with its numerous photographs shown along with the memorable theme song, was so moving that it brought tears to our eyes, and the final scene that connected back to the first episode was magnificent. The entire work was wonderful, woven together by the witty dialogue, the beautifully shaded visuals, and the background music that quietly colored the story."
Other recipients of the award include the ETV special "Searching for the 'Voices Buried by Time': 15 Years of Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Evacuees" (aired March 14), the NHK Special "The Nuclear Accident: The Buried Containment Operation" (aired March 15), and the TV anime "Ikoku Nikki" (Diary of a Different Country).
