Model and TV personality Anna Tsuchiya appeared on the 10th episode of the ABEMA variety show "Himitsu no Mamaen 2," which was streamed at 9 PM on April 5th.
The program followed Tsuchiya, who is raising four children. She greeted the staff with a bang, saying, "I was going to put on some makeup, but... this is my bare face!" and showed them her 4LDK house, which she bought five years ago.
She said that her single mother, Mayumi, who passed away last year, gave her a strict upbringing and love, and that she "made sure that she wouldn't be embarrassed when she went out into the world. Things like how to eat, not to speak up in adult conversations, and things like, 'Go to bed at 8 o'clock.' She was really strict." She also said that Mayumi always told her, "It's okay to be different," and shared an anecdote about Mayumi showing up to a parent-teacher conference in all black clothes and sunglasses.
Furthermore, Tsuchiya revealed her educational philosophy, which is based on her own competitive spirit. She said that her children are taught by their judo teacher that "losing is a learning experience," and Tsuchiya passionately stated, "Although we live in an era where we don't rank first, second, and third place, I think it's better to do so," and "Feelings like pain, frustration, and sadness help people grow," showing how she interacts with children with a strictness that is appropriate for the modern age.
Tsuchiya said that she has struggled with raising children many times throughout her three marriages. She recalled that she was saved by her mother Mayumi's presence each time, and expressed her gratitude, saying, "I think I'm gradually internalizing my mother's words and using them as armor."
