American actors Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway attended a special event in Tokyo on April 6th for the film "The Devil Wears Prada 2." This marks the first time the two have visited Japan together, as only Hathaway had come to Japan when the first film was released in 2006.
At the start of the event, the two, dressed in glamorous outfits, appeared on the red carpet hand in hand. They engaged in fan service, such as signing autographs and taking photos, and their every move was met with thunderous applause from the fans.
Streep's first visit to Japan in about 10 years, since 2016, was marked by her greetings, which included some Japanese phrases like "Hello Tokyo! Thank you very much," and a smile as she added, "I'm so happy to be here during cherry blossom season."
Hathaway's first visit to Japan in about 13 and a half years, since the end of 2012, was a joyous occasion. She greeted the audience in Japanese, saying, "Hello, Tokyo!" and added, "Thank you for creating such wonderful memories. I've received so much love and energy from everyone that I'm speechless; it feels like I'm dreaming."
K from the popular boy group "&TEAM" also made an appearance at the event.
The film is a sequel to "The Devil Wears Prada" (directed by David Frankel), a 2006 hit that was hailed as a "bible for working women." In the previous film, Andy (Hathaway), who found fulfillment in her work in the glamorous fashion industry, grew to the point of gaining the trust of the strict Miranda (Streep). However, in order to fulfill her own dreams, she gave up the position of Miranda's assistant, a position that everyone in the world envied, and began to walk a different path from the fashion industry.
Time passes, and Miranda and Andy finally reunite in the sequel. Having grown and matured on separate paths, the two team up again to face a crisis that threatens the survival of the fashion magazine "Runway," creating a sensation in the fashion industry.
