An event for "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers," a new TV anime series that is a direct sequel to the "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers" TV anime series which aired from April 1988 to March 1989, was held on March 29th at "AnimeJapan 2026" at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto Ward, Tokyo). This is the first new anime in approximately 35 years since the OVA "Yoroiden Samurai Troopers MESSAGE" released in 1991, and the first TV anime series to air in approximately 37 years. Under the title "This scene is no ordinary matter! A super exciting introduction to the highlights!", Hiroya Ishibashi (voice of Gai), Junya Enoki(voice of Kaito Uesugi), Ayumu Murase(voice of Musashi Hojo), and Kentaro Kumagai(voice of Shion Ishida) looked back on the first season which aired from January to March.
Ishibashi and Murase chose the "shocking scene" involving Mirei Aragaki in episode 10, and Murase said, "It's an original story, so I didn't know what it would be like until I got the script. Mirei is the only heroine, so I was really surprised! It was a shocking scene."
Enoki said that his favorite scene in episode 8 was when he sang a song by the idol group "Rock Hara Junior College," and revealed some behind-the-scenes details of the recording, saying, "When I put a lot of energy into it, Takeuchi-san (Shunsuke Takeuchi, who plays Yamato Hojo) liked it, but they ended up using a more subdued version."
Kumagai chose the scene from episode 6 where Gai and Shion are fighting, noting the impressive animation style reminiscent of Showa-era anime. Kumagai said it was "the scene that led to me being welcomed into Samurai Troopers," while Murase commented that "there are subtle Showa-era touches, and it has the charm of Showa-era anime."
The anime will be split into two cours, with the second cour scheduled to air from July. Enoki revealed that "the second cour will also be shocking," and Ishibashi urged viewers, "The second cour is seriously interesting! Wait until summer!"
"Ronin Warriors" is an anime produced by Sunrise that depicts five boys who possess "Yoroi Gear" (armored suits) being brought together by fate to fight against the demonic army led by the demon emperor Arago. "Ronin Warriors Gaiden" was released in 1989, "Ronin Warriors: Legend of the Shining Emperor" from 1989 to 1990, and "Ronin Warriors: Message" in 1991. A manga adaptation by Ryuichi Hoshino was serialized in "Comic Bonbon" (Kodansha).
