Actress Rio Uchida recently appeared at a press conference in Tokyo for the drama series "Drama Premier 23 'I Thought I Killed My Husband'" (TV Tokyo, Mondays at 11:06 PM), which starts on July 6th. When asked about a "turning point in her life" in relation to the drama's theme, Uchida spoke about meeting her beloved cat, who was a rescue cat.
In this "time-loop revenge suspense" film, the protagonist Rino, played by Uchida, repeatedly seeks revenge on her cheating husband and his mistress no matter how many times she dies. Regarding the highlights, Uchida appealed, "It's a time-loop suspense film where the sordidness of revenge, the sordidness of infidelity, and the sordidness of murder intersect, so there are a lot of mysteries that are really worth thinking about."
"I think there will be a lot of shocking scenes in terms of the acting of the cast, so it will be a show you won't be able to take your eyes off until the very end. The drama is dark and intense, but the atmosphere on set is really friendly and fun, so I really hope you can watch it with peace of mind. I would be happy if you could watch it while discussing it on social media and so on," he urged.
The drama tells the story of Rino, whose fate is drastically changed when she learns of her husband's infidelity through a single live-streamed video. In connection with this plot, Uchida was asked about a "turning point in her life that she feels has changed significantly," to which she replied, "About seven years ago, I met a rescue cat and, by chance, ended up adopting her. I hadn't had many opportunities to own pets before, but meeting my current cat taught me what love is. That became a turning point in my life."
"I've always had love within me, but looking back now, I realize that the love I had back then was just a small love. Now a huge love has blossomed within me, so I'm glad I met him," she said with a smile.
Keisuke Watanabe, Yumena Yanai, and Ryosuke Soda also attended the press conference.
The original work is a popular vertical-scrolling manga of the same name by Mana Akaishi, which was the first joint production between DMM Group's digital comic publisher "CLLENN" and TV Tokyo. Rino, a wife who is good at cooking, was living happily with her perfect and kind husband Keita (Keisuke Watanabe), but on the night of their wedding anniversary, Rino receives a live streaming video of a mysterious couple. In it, she sees her husband, wearing a mask, entangled with an unknown woman... Rino, who has learned of the betrayal, goes to kill her husband with a kitchen knife, but is killed in retaliation by his mistress, Elena (Yanai)...and so the story unfolds.
