A teaser video has been released for the TV anime "The Unrivaled Sage's Academy: Second Reincarnation, S-Rank Cheat Magician's Adventure Log," which is based on a popular manga series that boasts over 1.8 million copies sold in total.
The video begins with the death of Heftal, a great sage who once contributed to the defeat of the Demon King and was given the title of "Thunder God Emperor." 400 years later, Heftal is reincarnated in a world where magical civilization has declined, and the video depicts his awakening as the "strongest" magician, armed with the knowledge and magic of his previous life. Despite the fatal handicap of having no magical aptitude, he aims for the pinnacle of magic through the knowledge and effort he cultivated in his previous life. Anastasia, a girl who was subjected to harsh conditions as a slave, and Merlin, his former disciple who now holds a central position in the magic academy, also make appearances.
It was also announced that Hiroki Touchi will play the role of Eftal, the sage who dedicated his life to mastering magic in his previous life, as an old man; Ayaka Fukuhara will play the role of young Eftal immediately after his second reincarnation; Emiri Kato will play the role of Ilia, Eftal's mother; and Daisuke Hirakawa will play the role of Frazer, Eftal's half-brother who supports him.
Higashi commented, "I'm Hiroki Higashi, playing the role of the elderly Eftal. I'll soon be changing into the young Eftal (laughs), but this is an important introductory part. I put my heart into it so that I can pass the baton smoothly to Umeda (Shuichiro). It's a wonderful work, so everyone, please look forward to it!"
Fukuhara said, "I'm Ayaka Fukuhara, and I'll be voicing the adorable childhood version of Eftal, who has been reincarnated and inherited knowledge from his past life. It's an inspiring story in which he grows stronger by gaining not only knowledge but also bonds and power. During recording, I felt like I was passing the baton, making sure it would seamlessly connect to the performance of Mr. Umeda, who plays the younger version of Eftal. I'm sure the characters have similar passionate feelings. Don't miss seeing how Eftal overcomes his own limits!"
Kato commented, "Congratulations on the anime adaptation! When I read the original manga, I found it so interesting that I read all the way to the latest volume in one go, and I was completely engrossed in the story. I was really looking forward to being able to participate in such a work as Ilia, Eftal's mother! As a mother, I'm excited and a little nervous to see what kind of adventures Eftal will have from now on!"
Hirakawa said, "Congratulations on the anime adaptation! I'm Daisuke Hirakawa, and I'll be playing the role of Frazer. Frazer is the half-brother of the protagonist Eftal, and he's also a magic swordsman who graduated at the top of his class from the military academy. He takes care of Eftal and his father, Duke Olcott, who treats them poorly, and has been looking after Eftal and his father since Eftal was a child. I'm looking forward to seeing how Eftal grows, who he meets, and what he accomplishes as the story progresses, along with Frazer. Please look forward to the broadcast!"
The story follows Heftal, a great sage who was reincarnated from modern times and dedicated his life to the study of magic. He realizes the limits of his talent and dies in despair, but is reincarnated 400 years later. Armed with the knowledge and magic of his previous life, Heftal is reincarnated for the second time, in a world where magical civilization has declined. There, he teams up with a slave girl named Anastasia and Merlin, the headmaster of a prestigious academy and his former disciple, and becomes unrivaled at the magic academy.
The anime will be directed by Hisashi Ishii and produced by EMT Squared. Shuichiro Umeda will voice the current Heftal after his second reincarnation, Reo Koyama will voice Anastasia, who was rescued by Heftal from unjust treatment as a slave and joins him on his journey, and Haruka Shiraishi will voice Merlin, Heftal's former disciple. It will air from July on TOKYO MX, ABC TV, BS Fuji, WOWOW, and other channels.
