It has been announced that the drama series "That Night, I Was Blessed with the President's Child," starring former Hinatazaka46 member Mirei Sasaki and boy group Chotokkyu member Masahiro Moritsugu, will begin airing on MBS's "Drama Tokku" slot (Thursdays at 12:59 AM) from the late night of April 16th.
This is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name (by Taskey), which topped the overall ranking of the rapidly rising e-book store "Mecha Comic." It's a love story in which the heroine's ordinary life is turned upside down when she becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with a wealthy heir. This marks Sasaki's first appearance in an MBS drama and her first time starring in a romance drama. For Moritsugu, it's his first leading role in a TV series.
The heroine, Hanai Shiori (played by Sasaki), is a modest and devoted woman with low self-esteem. Deeply hurt after being dumped by her boyfriend of three years, she spends the night with a man who kindly listens to her problems at a bar, and becomes pregnant. Meanwhile, the company she works for is acquired and a new president is appointed. The new president who appears is Seko Takato (played by Moritsugu), who turns out to be the man from that night... and the story unfolds from there.
Sasaki commented, "This is my first time appearing in a romance drama, so I think it will be a big challenge for me. I want to convey the heart-fluttering feeling I felt when I read the original work in the drama! I feel that Shiori has a lot in common with me, so I'm really looking forward to filming." She added, "I hope everyone will watch over the two characters as they grow!"
Moritsugu said, "Kijin is the heir to a wealthy family and has a quiet and stern image, but the glimpses of his purity and earnestness create a great contrast that I think will make everyone's hearts flutter. I hope you will look forward to seeing the devoted Kijin who has feelings for Hanai Shiori, played by Sasaki, and pay attention to the pure love story between the two."
Original author Natsuno Mizuwake commented, "I was surprised and thrilled when I heard about the drama adaptation. The story begins with an extraordinary event: 'After one night, I've become pregnant with the president's child...!?' But Shiori and Seko nurture their love step by step. I am very much looking forward to seeing their story brought to life by the efforts of the director, actors, and staff!" Along with this, a support illustration drawn by Shiromiya Es, who is in charge of the artwork, was also released.
