It has been announced that Chūya Koyama's popular manga "Space Brothers," which has been adapted into an anime and a live-action film, will conclude in the "last three chapters." The final volume of the manga will be released on July 23rd. The author, Koyama, commented, "I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends myself. To everyone who has read it this far, please continue to follow along until the final volume."
To commemorate the series' conclusion, Kodansha has launched a campaign offering 147 chapters for free on its web manga apps, "Magazine Pocket" and "Comic DAYS."
"Space Brothers" began serialization in "Morning" (Kodansha) in 2007 and became a huge hit, winning both the 56th Shogakukan Manga Award (General Category) and the 35th Kodansha Manga Award (General Category) in 2011. The story follows two brothers who, as children, promised to become astronauts but ended up on different paths, yet still aim for space.
An anime television series aired from 2012 to 2014, and a live-action film starring Shun Oguri and Masaki Okada was also released in 2012.
