An advance screening of the TV anime "Kirio Fan Club," based on the manga by Earth's Fish Pon-chan, was held on March 14th at Shinjuku Piccadilly (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). Nene Hieda, who plays Aimi Miyoshi, Shion Wakayama, Gakuto Kajiwara, who plays Ken Kirio, and Yuya Hirose, who plays Mitsuru Mitsuda, made an appearance. Episodes 1-3 were screened, and Hieda said excitedly, "When I saw the finished animation, I could laugh from the audience's perspective, the use of color was very stylish, and the opening was also stylish and moving." Wakayama added, "It felt like I was getting a glimpse into student life. The pacing of the original manga was translated into the anime, and the feeling after reading it was the same. I thought, 'That's love (for the original manga)!'"
The screening was emceed by Nakatani of the comedy duo "Mayurika," who is acquainted with the original author, Chikyu no Osakana Pon-chan. Nakatani and the voice actors shared their impressions of Chikyu no Osakana Pon-chan and revealed memories from their student days.
Finally, Hirose said, "The content is mind-blowing right from the first episode, and as the story progresses, it gets noisier and a lot of things happen," while Kajiwara said, "The recording is finished, but there were some scenes that I felt I couldn't perform unless I surpassed my previous abilities, so I put my heart and soul into it."
Wakayama said, "There are parts that are full of passion, but there are also serious and quiet parts that depict everyday life, and going forward there will be comedy that is typical of 'Kirio Fan Club,' but the story will also unfold in a way that is not just that. I hope you will watch the anime together with us." Hieda added, "My attachment to it is growing stronger and stronger. I want to do my best to make it a success, and I hope you will all help make it a success as well."
The series is a one-sided romantic comedy about high school girls Aimi Miyoshi and Nami Someya, who engage in endless fantasies and exchanges of love for their classmate Ken Kirio. It was serialized in "COMIC RUEL" (Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha) from 2022 to 2024. It gained popularity, ranking 6th in "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2024" (Women's Edition) and 10th in "Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2025" (Women's Edition) for two consecutive years, and was also adapted into a live-action drama. The anime will be directed by So Toyama and produced by Satelight. It will air on the MBS/TBS anime block "Super Animeism TURBO" starting April 2nd.
