The TV anime "LIAR GAME," based on the popular manga by Shinobu Kaitani, which has also been adapted into a drama and a movie, will begin airing on TV Tokyo and other networks from April 6th. This marks the first time the manga has been adapted into a TV anime. A key visual featuring characters such as Nao Kanzaki and Shinichi Akiyama has been released.
Fourteen additional cast members have also been announced. They will be playing Edateruyuki, Tomioka Yasutaka; Kikuzawa Takahiro, Ishige Shoya; Shoya Ishige, Asano Ryosuke; Sato Tetsuzo, Kiuchi Taro; Tamura Makiko, Akechi Riko; Danno Daisuke, Fukamachi Toshiyuki; Tsunoda Kosuke, Miyase Naoya; Nishihara Reina, Misuzu Yamada Misuzu; Taihi Kimura; Hosoe Jun, Sakai Misano; Makihara Yuki, Gomatsuru Aya; Matsubara Fumio, Nishizawa Ryo; Miura Takayoshi, Yashiro Taku; and Miyahara Hitomi, Daichi Yo.
A stage event will be held at the TV Tokyo booth at "AnimeJapan 2026," which will take place at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto Ward, Tokyo), starting at 1:20 PM on March 29th. Saaya Hitomi (voice of Kanzaki Nao), Takeo Otsuka(voice of Akiyama Shinichi), and Kazuhiro Nakatani (voice of Leronira) will appear on stage. Special "Leronira's Mask" masks will be distributed to those who win tickets to the stage event. A limited number of masks will also be distributed at the entrance of the TV Tokyo booth.
"LIAR GAME" is a manga series that was serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha) from 2005 to 2015. It is a suspense story depicting how Kanzaki Nao, an honest female college student, gets caught up in the Liar Game, a game where people compete for huge sums of money through lies and tricks, and how she and Akiyama Shinichi, a former genius con artist, manage to win the game. It was adapted into a drama series in 2007 starring Matsuda Shota and Toda Erika, with a second season airing in 2009. Movies were released in 2010 and 2012. It has also been adapted into a stage play.
The anime will be produced by Madhouse, with Yuzo Sato serving as general director and Asami Kawano as director.
