It has been revealed that actress Hikari Ishida will be starring in the April drama series "The House Where the Demon Woman Lives" (Chukyo TV/NTV, Wednesdays at 12:24am). This will be Ishida's first lead role in a NTV drama in about 30 years, since "Natural: The Destination of Love" (Yomiuri TV). She will play a "demon woman" who is part of the "identification team" on the internet and drives numerous targets into flame wars.
"Oni-onna" is an internet slang term derived from "kijo," referring to users of large message boards for married women. Known for their incredible research skills, able to pinpoint even addresses and family structures from the slightest information on social media, they are feared and are said to be "the only people you should never make enemies of." Hoshino Akari (Ishida) wears the mask of an ordinary housewife during the day, but in secret she is an "Oni-onna," devouring the "pleasure of lynching" through a twisted version of justice. One day, she receives a direct message from a mysterious person calling themselves "Hiiragi," who says, "There's someone I want you to set on fire." This psychological horror suspense drama follows. The screenplay is by Sato Yuji, who has worked on "Black Revenge" (Yomiuri TV), and the direction is by Kimura Hisashi, who has worked on "99.9 - Criminal Lawyer" (TBS).
Ishida said, "While carefully working with the director and staff to consider 'Why this production now?' and 'What should we deliver?', I do wonder if I'm really up to the task, but I've been given a really interesting role, so I'm going to give it my all."
"The House Where the Demon Woman Lives" will be broadcast every Wednesday at 12:24 a.m. starting from April 1st.
