Singer Goro Noguchi (70) appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on March 6th. He reflected on his farewell to his mother, Iyoko, who passed away last February.
Iyoko passed away in February last year, about two hours before the start of the first day of Noguchi's concert. However, Noguchi only found out after the two-day concert had finished.
"I don't know why I said that, but the day before the concert I told my wife, 'If anything happens to your mother, don't tell me during the concert. Tell me after the concert.' I told her to never stop singing."
During the concert, only Noguchi was unaware of the news of his death. "You fooled my children so well, you kept quiet so they didn't know anything about my father. You did well," he said, hugging his children after the concert. He also expressed his gratitude to his family for supporting him without telling them.
