"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Friday 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show in which "detectives" tackle viewers' unexpected requests and worries. On March 6th, detective Yasushi Ishida was in charge of a new segment, "Smell It! The Smelly Boast Show-Off." Popular group Da-iCE member Sota Hanamura appeared as the special director, along with assistant director Daigo Nagami and secretary Saori Masuda.
The show has been receiving a steady stream of "smelly boasts" from all over the country, including socks and feet. So, the show decided to sniff out smelly things from all over the country to decide which is the "smelliest."
Joining Detective Ishida as judge will be Arisa Hata, who previously appeared on the show with the request, "I love the smell of stinky socks." Each person will be given a maximum of 10 points, with 20 being the highest possible score.
First up was a 27-year-old man from Hyogo Prefecture. He claimed that the wax he removed from behind his ear with a cotton swab smelled like blue cheese, but when he smelled it directly, Detective Ishida was in agony, saying it smelled like garbage. However, Arisa gave it a total of 16 points, saying it "lacked punch." The next point, "the smell of the air coming out of a handheld fan," was smelly, but only got 14 points.
Next up were three people who boasted about the smell of their feet. One man (28) boasted that his feet smelled like "intense 'Yocchan Squid' (cheap snacks)," and received 19 points. Furthermore, a woman (31) from Hiroshima recommended a male coworker who said, "Only the fingers that touch his cheek stink." In fact, neither his fingers nor his cheeks smelled, but when she smelled the fingers that touched his cheek, she exclaimed, "Wow, it stinks!" What's more, his left cheek didn't smell, which was strange. However, he only received 14.5 points.
Our last guest is a woman and her father from Fukuoka Prefecture. They say that their beloved black poodle, Umeko (6 years old), has a really bad stool. So, we asked her if we could smell the poop she had made the day before... Who will be crowned the first number one in the "Smelliest Showdown"?
