On March 20th, Friday Roadshow (Nippon TV, Friday 9pm) will broadcast an uncut, 10-minute extended version of "Monsters University" (2013, USA), the prequel to the hit animated film "Monsters, Inc."
Mike Wazowski (Yuji Tanaka) has dreamed of becoming a scarer since he was a child. A hard worker and studious, he enrolls in the Scaring Department at Monsters University, a school that trains scarers. Mike becomes roommates with Randall (Jo Aoyama), a student in the same department who can disappear, and begins to study hard. Meanwhile, Sulley (Hidehiko Ishizuka), who comes from a prestigious family of scarers, is conceited about his natural talent and becomes a star at school without putting in any effort.
Time passes, and Mike and Sulley are about to take their important final exams. Under pressure from their seniors, Sulley provokes Mike during the exam, causing a commotion and being expelled by the Head of Hardscrabble (Miru Ichiyanagi). Mike is dejected, but decides to take part in the university's traditional "Scare Contest" in order to be reinstated into his department.
The university president, who is hosting the competition, allows Mike to participate on the condition that if he wins, he will transfer the entire team to the "Scare Club," but if they lose, they will be expelled. In order to participate in the competition, Mike and Sulley join a club that includes Don (Katsuhisa Houki), Teri (Setsuji Sato), Terry (Eiji Hanawa), Art (Keiji Himeno), and Squishy (Shohei Shimada), but none of them have experience scaring others.
Starting next week on March 27th, Friday Road Show will be showing Conan movies for four consecutive weeks to celebrate the release of the new Detective Conan: Detective Conan Angel of the Highway." On the same day, they will also be broadcasting "Detective Detective Conan: Requiem of the Detectives" (2006).
