A gunshot murder occurs at a matchmaking party attended by Kanagawa Prefectural Police officers Hagiwara Chihaya and Yokomizo Jugo. Conan and his team, who were outside the establishment, hear screams and rush to the scene. Based on the state of the scene, three male attendees who were chosen by the victim and had the opportunity to be alone with her in a separate room are identified as suspects and an investigation begins. As the investigation runs into difficulties due to the perpetrator's clever tactics, Conan focuses on a note left by the victim in which he wrote his impressions of the three attendees. It is a mysterious note with incorrect kanji and okurigana.
