The program "Junnin Jyuuni-iro ~As many family shapes as there are houses~" (MBS, Saturday 5pm, Kansai local and other stations) hosted by talent Mika Mifune and actor Taro Suruga will feature the February 28th broadcast introducing "Tanoji House" in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, where both people and dogs can live stress-free.
The owners are a married couple who live with their three dogs. Last year, they moved into a new home in Amagasaki, the wife's hometown. The house has almost no windows on the exterior, and has a strange shape with one corner shaved off. The main space is on the second floor, and has a 4.5 tatami mat inner balcony that also serves as a natural light source. The exterior wall blocks views from the surrounding area, even though the house is in a residential area, but the interior is completely made up of windows, allowing light to enter the room.
The space is divided into four parts in a square shape, with the central pillar and exterior walls supporting the entire house, creating a continuous living, dining, and kitchen (LDK) without any partitions. Furthermore, five levels of split floors are set into the three-story building, with gaps of 15 to 20 centimeters between the second and third floors, and the second and first floors. This allows light from the inner balcony to reach below through the gaps, allowing the couple to maintain a sense of distance while still being able to feel each other's presence.
The house is not particularly large, measuring just 40 sq. meters, but the inner balcony is a great place to enjoy barbecues, and the dogs run around happily. Living in their new home, the wife talks about the changes in their lifestyle, saying, "Before, we didn't have anywhere to rest, but now we have a comfortable distance between us, so it's really easy to live here." The husband also smiled at the dogs, saying, "The dogs really enjoy the gaps and stairs. I can see that they're more relaxed than they were in our old house."
"Jyunin Jyuiro" is a program that visits homes all over Japan and introduces the residents' preferences and charms for their homes. After broadcast, it will be available on TVer for one week.
