"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where detectives tackle viewers' unusual requests and worries. On February 27th, detective Takanori Takeyama investigated "A necklace made from the remains of a toe!?" Actor and film director Naoto Takenaka made his first appearance on the show as the special director, along with assistant director Seiya and secretary Saori Masuda.
The request came from a 32-year-old man from Tokyo. In November 2025, the man had the toe on his right foot amputated to treat an illness. The amputated toe was cremated and his ashes were returned to him the other day. There was a time when he had lost the will to live, but now he is trying to stay positive and do his best to live.
So, he thought he would like to take this opportunity to create a cool accessory using his ashes. He wanted to make a necklace so he could always wear "himself." However, he had no idea what to do on his own, so he asked for help.
A man appeared with an urn containing a toe bone, cheerfully saying, "I've come to bring a smile to your face." The man revealed that he suffered from childhood diabetes at the age of 11 and at one point even considered death. However, after having his toe amputated, he became more positive and came up with an idea that no one else could do: "If I make accessories with my own body, it's super rock!"
So they went to a pioneer of "bone carving," a technique for turning animal bones into accessories. However, because the man's bones had been cremated, they were fragile and could not be carved. So the man and Detective Takeyama decided to find a way to create a cool, one-of-a-kind accessory.

Takenaka is a renowned actor who exudes a powerful presence with his unique acting, and is also active as a film director. After reading the opening remarks in a deep voice, he suddenly changes gears and introduces himself with a playful smile, saying, "I'm this week's special director, Takenaka Kaoto. The character for 'face' and the character for 'person' are written together to form the name 'Takenaka Kaoto.' I look forward to working with you."
She seems to be very familiar with "Night Scoop," and praised it, saying, "It takes a very sharp look at all kinds of mysteries and really touches on the weak spots in my heart. There are parts that make me cry, and other parts that really stimulate my brain. I think it's a great program that lets you experience all kinds of events firsthand. And the cast members' antics, too. I think it's a rich program that lets me learn a lot."
However, when Detective Tamura suspected, "There's a chance that you might be lying...", he scolded him with a smile, saying, "That's rude," and performed his signature gag of "someone who gets angry while laughing."
