Motoki Omori of the popular rock band Mrs. Green Apple will appear in the special edition (supplement) of the April issue of fashion magazine Numero TOKYO (Fusosha), which will be released on February 28th.
The supplementary volume of Numero Tokyo Homme features a 16-page special on Omori titled "THE ART OF MOTOKI OHMORI: Motoki Omori, All About Creativity." It includes a long interview that delves into his fashionable visuals, his aesthetics, words, philosophy, and the origins of his creativity.
Looking back on his junior high school days, Omori says, "I just enjoyed writing songs. I also had the idea that 'my future is already decided, so I don't need to study.' I didn't go to school, but instead stayed in my room and spent every day writing three or four songs."
He continued, "I had a strong admiration for the people on the other side of the TV, so I thought, 'I have to quickly become someone that people think is amazing.' That was my motivation, but at the same time, I felt a sense of impatience. I still felt a sense of inferiority, so I tried hard to justify the fact that I was writing songs instead of going to school."
He continues, "The same goes for choosing a correspondence school for high school. There was no way out for me. I bet my life fully on music and lived a life where I had no option but to think, 'What if this doesn't work out?' Of course, I know I'm doing something unorthodox, and I'm aware that I'm worrying my parents and that people around me are looking at me with wondering eyes. That's why I only had two futures: either I end up as a loser, or I succeed in music and become a genius."
