The official trailer for the film "Zombie 1/2: Right Side of the Living Dead" (directed by Ota Erika), starring actor Yoshimura Sojiro, has been released. The film also stars Sekiguchi Risa, who is a "modern girl" on Fuji TV's morning information program, Mezamashi TV. She commented, "This is the first time I've played a zombie! It was also my first time appearing in a film, so I was taken aback when I saw myself as a zombie on the big screen (laughs)."
"Zombie 1/2" is the second installment of "M CINEMA," a project run by the video production company Media Mix Japan, which gives young employees in their 20s and 30s the opportunity to produce a feature film. This unprecedented zombie film stars a "half-zombie," the only rational being in a world after the zombie pandemic has ended.
Ryuma Shingu (Yoshimura), the last remaining "half-zombie" working as an office worker, lives a normal life, wanting to "live without causing any trouble," but one day he bites a university student intern, Hazame-kun (Tanaka Kouki), and a zombie pandemic breaks out. The story goes that he is meant to fight to put an end to the chaos...
Sekiguchi is 21 years old and was born on June 5th, 2004 in Tokyo. Regarding the film, she said, "It's a zombie movie, but it also has comedy elements, so even though I'm not a big fan of zombie or horror movies, I was able to enjoy it all the way to the end. I hope everyone will go see it in the theater!"
The trailer opens with a flashback to the horrific zombie pandemic. The government officially declared the zombie eradication, and peace was restored to the world. However, behind the scenes, Shingu, a "half-zombie" who still retains his sanity and blends into society, lives his daily life in a suit. We see him trying to live a "normal" life as a half-zombie, experiencing feelings of love for his senior coworker Eruko (Nakata Aoi), engaging in comical exchanges with fellow intern Uzame (Tanaka Kouki), and eating a lunchbox filled with "green meat for zombies." However, his peaceful daily life suddenly falls apart. The situation rapidly becomes tense with the news of "half-zombies going violent (fully zombified)" emerging from various locations.
People fleeing, screams ringing out, and an unprecedented conflict between zombies and half-zombies breaks out. Furthermore, the secret activities of a mysterious man, Hiiringu (played by Shunsuke Daito), who proposes a "healing half-zombie house," push the situation further into chaos... Still images have also been released.
Comedian Machiura Pink will also appear in the film as a commentator, commenting, "It's great to be a part of the world's stupidest zombie movie! A toast to the spirit that went into creating it."
The film will be released in advance at Kineka Omori (Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo) on March 20th.
