The visual for the "2014 OST design replacement jacket sticker (1988 OST homage design)" that will be a special in-store purchase bonus for the "expanded edition" of the original soundtrack for the 1988 animated film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack" (directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino), has been released. The original soundtrack released at the time of the film's theatrical release in 1988 came with four jacket-sized stickers as a special bonus. The stickers will be given as a special in-store purchase bonus for the "expanded edition."
The bonus sticker features a colored Nu Gundam design based on a line drawing drawn by Hidetoshi Omori, the animation director of "Char's Counterattack," for the original soundtrack "Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack Complete Edition [First Press Limited Edition]," released in 2014.
The "Original Soundtrack 'Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack' Complete Edition" was released in 2014 and became a hot topic. It added 10 previously unreleased tracks, 11 unreleased alternate takes, and 45 "Movie Sync Edit" tracks to the original soundtrack released at the time of the film's release. The "Movie Sync Edit" is a sound source where the original music has been edited to synchronize with the anime.
As of 2026, the regular version, which includes tracks not included on the original album, is still on sale, but the three-disc limited edition is no longer in print. The "expanded edition" includes unreleased alternate takes of the discontinued first edition, as well as a "movie synchronized edit." It will be released on March 11th.
