"I Love Myself" is a song with a pop melody sung energetically by Kaguya, played by Yuko Natsuyoshi. The lyric video depicts Kaguya's efforts to become a popular live streamer alongside Sakyo Saiba in order to realize a collaborative live concert with Tsukuyomi Yachiyo, the songstress of the virtual world Tsukuyomi. The video vividly captures the memories of the summer they spent together, with Kaguya struggling to make a live stream in the real world and perform on the streets of Tsukuyomi, Saiba supporting Kaguya despite being pushed around by her, and their friends Aya Tsumugi Ashika and Isayama Mami watching over them.
The film is a "music anime" inspired by the classic "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." Sakyo Sayo, a 17-year-old high school girl who leads an incredibly busy life juggling part-time work and studies, meets Kaguya, who appears from inside a gaming telephone pole that shines in seven colors. The anime was produced by Studio Colorido, known for "Penguin Highway," and Studio Chromat, led by director Yamashita, in collaboration. Music was provided by a stellar cast of vocaloid producers, including ryo from "supercell," kz from "livetune," 40mP, HoneyWorks, Aqu3ra, and yuigot. It began streaming as a "Netflix movie" on January 22nd. It will be released in theaters for a limited one-week period from February 20th.
