Ariyoshi Hiroiki hosts the TV Asahi quiz variety show "Ariyoshi Quiz" (Sundays at 12:40 AM, excluding some areas). On the February 8th broadcast, he reunites with Hachimitsu Jiro of the comedy duo "Tokyo Dynamite," who has been struggling with living with a prosthetic leg since surgery last September. This is the second installment of the "Electric Wheelchair Walk" segment, in which Ariyoshi and Hachimitsu Jiro take a stroll together in an electric wheelchair, and they tour Gotanda, Tokyo.
The idea for the project began when Hachimitsu Jiro appeared on a medal game program in January last year and said, "I want to do a program about walking around in an electric wheelchair on BS." In response to this, the first episode was broadcast in March of the same year as a pilot program aimed at making it a regular program on BS, and it received a great response, winning the Galaxy Award for the month of April 2025.
Upon meeting Ariyoshi for the first time in a long while, Hachi-mitsu Jiro spoke about the reality of living with a prosthetic leg and his future goals, saying, "I'm not in pain now and my physical measurements are good," and "It's still a temporary (prosthetic leg), so maybe I should ask Ku-chan (Kukkie!) from Yasei Bakudan to make me a cool one."
The setting is Gotanda, a place that holds many memories for Hachimitsu Jiro, who "used to go around as a delivery man during his high school days." This time, he will visit three spots that he wants to visit with Ariyoshi. Just like last time, Ariyoshi operates his electric wheelchair with ease, saying, "It's intuitive, so it's fine." Seki Futoshi from "Time Machine No. 3" will accompany them as the three head out into the city.
The first place they went to was a chicken specialty store that Hachimitsu Jiro said he had wanted to go to since he was in high school. It was a popular store that always had a line, and Ariyoshi said, "I like it too. I often come here to buy food."
Next, they head to a store that will grant Hachimitsu Jiro's wish to "buy a present for his daughter." When Hachimitsu Jiro reveals that he is "living with his daughter again, who was looked after by an acquaintance while he was hospitalized," Ariyoshi beams. Hachimitsu Jiro then suggests, "I'd also like to buy a present for your child."
Afterwards, as Hachi-mitsu Jiro was about to head to a restaurant that he "really wanted to go to," a "certain person" joined him. Hachi-mitsu Jiro was thrilled and said, "She's my number one favorite female comedian!"
The program will also introduce various barrier-free awareness gained from different perspectives that can only be noticed by strolling around town in an electric wheelchair. It will be an "electric wheelchair stroll" that will have you laughing, learning, and sometimes even touching.
