Hokuto Matsumura of the popular group SixTONES won the 50th Elan d'or Award in 2026 and attended the awards ceremony held in Tokyo on February 4th.
When asked if the other members knew about the award, she said, "Maybe we've been together for too long. That doesn't happen very often. They probably saw it on the internet news or something." When asked if she would tell them about it again, she blushed and said, "No, I'm a little embarrassed," with a shy laugh.
In a message to his fans, he said, "I believe I am able to keep going thanks to the people close to me who support me, and the people I have never met who tell me things like 'it was great' and 'it was so moving'. I don't just want to keep saying 'thank you' to those people, but I want to do more than that, as if it were a given, and make it a place where I can experience things like emotion and emotions that I have only encountered in movies."
Continuing, "This is going to be a bit long," she explained the origin of her name. "'Hokuto' comes from the star (the Big Dipper). When my parents told me, 'Long ago, travelers used the stars as landmarks,' I thought I wasn't that kind of person, but even if my heart can't keep up, I hope I can make it a reality. I believe that my parents are my greatest source of inspiration, so I feel like I've been able to be filial to them. Through things like this, I hope to be a source of nourishment for those who support me, to be absorbed as much as I can, and to wither away."
The Elan d'or Awards are an awards system that began in 1956. This year, the Newcomer Award was removed and the winners were Amane Okayama, Kaho, Jiro Sato, Akari Takaishi, Matsumura, and Kyoko Yoshine. The Producer's Award went to Chieko Murata of the film "National Treasure," and Ayaka Sugita and Izumi Maruyama of the TBS drama series "So, You Make It," while the Producer's Encouragement Award went to Shota Okada of the film "Bomb" and Rena Oda of the Nippon Television drama series "Hot Spot."
