Actor Kenji Sakaguchi has been appointed as the support ambassador for MBS's golf broadcasts. He will be the support ambassador for two tournaments: the official US Women's Tour event, the "TOTO Japan Classic" (Seta Golf Course, Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture), which will be broadcast on November 8th and 9th on the MBS/TBS network, and the "Dunlop Phoenix Tournament" (Phoenix Country Club, Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture), one of Japan's largest men's golf tournaments, which will be broadcast on the 22nd and 23rd of the same month.
Sakaguchi was a member of the golf club in high school and has been playing golf for over 30 years. He is still a skilled player, scoring in the 80s. He appears live from the Toto Japan Classic and Dunlop Phoenix Tournament to report on the players' play.
Sakaguchi said enthusiastically, "Golf is a sport that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of gender or age. I will do my best to report on the heated battles between the top professionals at the top of the sport from the scene and help many people experience the charm of golf!"
He will also appear on the navigator programs for both tournaments. The programs will be broadcast locally in the Kansai region at 5:45 AM on November 8th and 5:45 AM on the 22nd, and Sakaguchi will actually demonstrate his play on the course. In a par 3 near-pin showdown, he will show off a shot that will wow Daijiro Izumida and Mika Miyazato.
