It has been announced that "Gokigenyou, Ikkyoku Ikaga?", a mahjong manga by Tsukasa Unohana currently serialized in "Manga Time Kirara Carat" (Houbunsha), will be adapted into a TV anime. Kaori, who has worked on many anime adaptations of "Manga Time Kirara" works such as "Yuyushiki" and "Hoshikuzu Telepath", will direct the anime, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, known for "Is the Order a Rabbit?", handling the series composition, and Mai Otsuka, known for "Machikado Mazoku", in charge of character design. Felix Film, known for "Aharen-san wa Hakarenai", will produce the animation.
"Good day, how about a game?" has been serialized in "Manga Time Kirara Carat" since 2022. Sae, a shy high school girl who doesn't fit in with her classmates at a prestigious girls' academy, is caught playing mahjong on an app during lunch break by Chisato, the school's most charismatic young lady, and their bond deepens from there. It has gained popularity as a laid-back and cute comedy depicting the daily lives of beginner mahjong players.
Original author Unohana contributed a celebratory illustration featuring the main characters Sae, Chisato, Nonoka, and Junrei, commenting, "I'm so happy that 'Goichikyoku' is being made into an anime!! Thank you!! My starting point was to create a mahjong manga that's easy to read and that people can enjoy even if they don't know anything about mahjong. I'm looking forward to it being seen by even more people through the anime adaptation. I'm really looking forward to seeing Sae and the others move and voiced, and also to seeing their avatars! I'm looking forward to everything!"
Director Kaori said, "I've been playing mahjong since I was little, so when I was offered this job, I was thrilled that my passion had become my job! Thank you for selecting me. I think it's a wonderful story that anyone can enjoy, whether you're unfamiliar with mahjong, a beginner, or a mahjong enthusiast. I hope everyone will enjoy watching Sae and the others having so much fun playing mahjong. I'm just as into it as Sae, I even do morning three-player mahjong fortune telling (laughs)."
