It has been revealed that actress Tamaki Shiratori will play a pregnant woman in the NTV Wednesday drama "First Cry: Mother and Child Emergency Medical Team" (Wednesdays at 10 PM), starring Manami Higa. Shiratori will appear in the first episode on July 8th, playing a 17-year-old pregnant woman with no family who has not received prenatal care.
"First Cry: Maternal and Child Emergency Medical Team" is a medical entertainment drama about obstetricians who protect new lives behind the scenes of a glamorous celebrity hospital. At St. Fiona Hospital, one of Japan's leading celebrity hospitals, a maternal and child emergency medical team is secretly formed, led by obstetrician Aki Mitsui (played by Higa), who struggles to protect pregnant women who have nowhere else to go and "new lives." At the heart of the story are medical professionals who take on high-risk "life-or-death situations." Individuals with different personalities and values, each with their own circumstances and motives, face the lives of mothers and children before them with sincerity.
Shiratori plays Shishido Megumi, a 17-year-old pregnant woman with no family who hasn't received prenatal care. After an unexpected pregnancy, she visits the NPO "HOME Ubugoe," run by Hatori Misaki (Tokunaga Eri). After tests at St. Fiona Hospital, Mitsui (Higa) recommends that she be hospitalized, but she has no money and no confidence in raising a child...
Furthermore, it was announced that Rio Teramoto and Haruka Dan will also be appearing in the series. Teramoto plays Asuka Sanada, a pregnant woman who hasn't received prenatal care. Her water breaks at the girls' bar where she works, and she is rushed to the hospital, but several hospitals refuse to accept her, leaving her stranded. Mitsui takes Asuka to St. Fiona Hospital, but then takes a surprising course of action. Meanwhile, Dan plays Yuki Ichinose, a celebrity pregnant woman who attends St. Fiona Hospital. As she is nearing childbirth, she suddenly experiences bleeding and abdominal pain...and the story unfolds from there.
