Disney Animation Studios' new feature-length animated film, "Hexed," is a brand-new magical story featuring Billy, the first-ever Disney heroine to be a modern-day high school student. It was announced on June 19th that the film will be released in Japan on December 4th. A teaser trailer and teaser poster were also released at the same time.
The newly released teaser trailer shows Billie, an unconventional high school girl who doesn't fit in at school, awakening to magical powers and being led on a grand adventure in a new world.
One day, while trying to pick up her phone that had fallen on the floor in the school bathroom, Billie's hand got caught in a crack in the wall, causing her bracelet to fall off. As Billie reached out to retrieve the bracelet, a small spark flew from her hand, and the next moment, the bracelet was drawn back to her as if by magic. Then, as Billie held out her hand, a door opened on its own, mice flew through the air, and water gushed from the faucet—a series of magical phenomena occurred. Billie, who had been unexpectedly expelled for trashing the bathroom, was feeling down in her room, muttering, "I must be crazy..." when another small spark flickered from her hand, and this time she was sucked into a "door" that had suddenly appeared in her room.
When Billy is sucked into a mysterious world, he finds a talking book and a quill pen waiting for him. "Billy Doe, welcome to the wizarding world of 'Hex'," the book says, and giant trees in front of him open up, revealing a world of wizards called "Hex" that he has never seen before. The video then shows scenes that foreshadow Billy's grand adventure in this new world, with Billy floating in the air, a creature with many eyes, a fortune teller who can levitate cards, and mysterious witches who are chasing Billy.
"It's not that I'm weird. This world is where I belong," Billy declares, casting spells from her hands. What kind of adventures await her in this wizarding world?
The teaser poster, which was also released, depicts Billy floating in mid-air, enveloped in a mysterious light. The visual suggests that the magical powers dormant within Billy have been awakened, hinting at the many magical events to come.
The film will be directed by Faun Veerasonthorn of "Wish" and Jason Hand of "Moana 2". Georgie Trinidad will serve as co-director, and Roy Conli will produce.
In a magical world no one has ever seen, what kind of grand adventure awaits Billy, a modern-day high school student? "Billy and the Magic Begins" is scheduled for release on December 4th.
