It has been announced that the Tour de France, the world's most prestigious road cycling race, which kicks off on July 4th, will be broadcast live on WOWOW. All 21 stages of the race, from the first day to the finish in Paris on July 26th, will be streamed live every day.
The Tour de France, which began in 1903, takes place every July in France and surrounding countries. Races called "stages" are held daily, with fierce competition for the yellow jersey, the "maillot jaune," which is only worn by the leading rider.
This year's race will start in Barcelona, Spain for the first time in history, with the race taking place in the Catalonia region before crossing the Pyrenees Mountains and entering France. The final stages of the race will feature two consecutive stages on the Alpe d'Huez mountain pass, where many fierce battles have unfolded, and the final day will see the race finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
The main focus of this year's tournament is the "clash of the two powerhouses" between Tadej Pogačar, last year's champion who is aiming for his fifth overall title, and Jonas Vingegaard, who is looking to reclaim the championship.
