Yoshinori Kobayashi appeared in the 12th installment of "THE ZERO to ONE," an interview series in which authors share the stories behind the creation of hit works from magazines such as "Weekly Shonen Jump" and "Monthly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha). He talks about the behind-the-scenes production of "Todai Icchokusen," which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" from June 1976 to October 1979. The interview is available on the company's online bookstore, "Zebrack."
"Todai Icchokusen" is an unconventional work that combines the themes of "exams x comedy." During its serialization, when the storm of the academic-focused society was raging, the gags of the protagonist, Todai Tsū, who aims to get into the University of Tokyo, which go beyond logic and make you laugh with your right brain, became a hit.
To commemorate the release of the interview, Zebrack is offering the first three volumes of the manga "Todai Icchokusen" for free until July 5th.
"THE ZERO to ONE" is a special project that directly interviews the authors of hit manga series serialized in magazines such as "Weekly Shonen Jump" and "Monthly Shonen Jump," tracing their journey from "zero to one." The interview articles will be published on the same day that the manga magazine containing the first chapter of each work was released.
