"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle outlandish requests and worries submitted by viewers. On June 12th, Detective Ken Maeda investigated the "Ken Hirai Intro Quiz King Championship." War photographer Yoichi Watanabe served as the special director, with Daigo Nagami as assistant director and Saori Masuda as secretary.
The request came from a 28-year-old man from Fukuoka Prefecture. He has loved singer Ken Hirai since he was in fifth grade, and spends every day listening to Hirai's music. He listens to Ken Hirai when he's happy, when he's having fun, when he's having a hard time, when he's suffering, and when he's sad. He has lived like this every day since he was in elementary school.
Especially since becoming a working adult, I've been able to travel to see his live performances, and my love for Ken Hirai has grown even stronger. Wanting to share this overflowing "love for Ken Hirai" with someone, I started asking my senior colleagues at work during breaks to give me intro quizzes on Ken Hirai's songs that I'm good at. As I proudly showed off my skills, rumors began to spread around the office that there was someone who was an expert on Ken Hirai's music.
Lately, I've become a little more confident in my ability to guess Ken Hirai's intros, and I'm looking for a new place to showcase my love for Ken Hirai. I'd really appreciate it if you could respond to my feelings.
The client, who greeted us wearing a Ken Hirai T-shirt, had a home overflowing with not only CDs but also other Ken Hirai merchandise. To immediately participate in an intro quiz, we brought in impressionist comedian Ken Koiwa as an opponent, but the client won all 10 matches in a landslide victory.
So, we'll be taking on three hardcore fans of Ken Hirai: a "professional announcer who mixes work and personal life" (considered the top of the top fans), a woman who spontaneously gives tours of places associated with Ken Hirai, and a woman who has been running a fan site for 22 years. The winner gets to show off their top-notch knowledge of Ken Hirai, so the competition gradually heats up, but who will win?!
