84-year-old actress Yoshiko Mita will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which airs at 1 p.m. on May 28th.
She made her film debut at the age of 18, and after 66 years, she laughs, saying that she's recently been playing only grandmother roles, so this time she came dressed in a glamorous outfit of a long pink and black dress. Her grandchildren call her "Grandma," but they didn't know that she was an actress. She recounts how her grandchildren reacted when they went to see one of her films together and saw "Grandma" on the screen.
Her husband is a former NHK producer, and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary two years ago. She reveals that they still call each other by their first names. She recently wrote a will as part of her end-of-life planning. Her joys in life are her four cats and one dog. The dog, who grew up with the cats, has a slightly hunched back, and the cats "talk" to her.
